PPE Speaker Series: “The FBI’s Fight Against Foreign Corruption” with Jeff Coleman

On June 3, 2021, the White House issued a National Security Study Memorandum establishing the fight against corruption as a core United States national security interest.  The presentation will offer an overview of the FBI’s International Corruption Unit, the laws it enforces, and the partnerships it has forged to address this interest.  The presentation will then offer a case study of global efforts to investigate billions of dollars misappropriated from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a Malaysian sovereign development fund, and funneled to foreign government officials and their associates.  The presentation will detail the actors who committed this theft, the professionals who enabled it, the celebrities entangled in it, and the harm caused to the Malaysian people.
