Charity Concert to Support Ukrainian Front-Line Paramedics: Celebration of Ukrainian Music, Art, & Culture

Dr. Taras Filenko, a pianist, historian and ethnomusicologist

 

PROGRAM

Scholar and pianist Dr. Taras Filenko will share an introduction to Ukrainian music with live performances at the piano and support from soprano singer Alina Cherkasova. The multimedia presentation will reveal Ukrainian national identity through a musical lens and will include works by composers from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Bortnyansky, Revutsky, Lysenko, and many others as well as the arrangements of famous Ukrainian folk songs.

Alina Cherkasova is an Odesa-trained opera singer (soprano), vocal and piano teacher, and laureate of many international competitions (Italy, Spain, USA, Ukraine, Austria) with a repertoire that includes famous opera and Ukrainian songs.
